A new, original OHA “popera” like the popular Burt Dow, Deep Water Man. The Last Ferryman continues the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Deer Isle-Sedgwick Bridge. It tells through song, drama, and real stories--drawn from recent oral histories as part of OHA’s educational program--what island life was like before the bridge; how the bridge got built; and how it forever changed the nature of the island. This popera has at its heart historic island figures such as Charlie Scott, the last ferryman, and Frank McGuire, one of the fathers of the bridge. Featuring a professional and community cast , including a childrens’ chorus.
