Dying on a bonus stage doesn't prevent you from earning a colored gem, which is great because this bonus is one of those you might have to restart a lot. Be careful not to break the second bouncy crate with your head.
To earn a colored gem in Crash Bandicoot 1 you must break all the boxes in a specific level without dying. Sometimes it's easier said than done.

The vermin have set locations where they can spawn, but the spawns themselves are random.
Completing the game in under 4 minutes and 30 seconds will unlock The Story of a Lifetime achievement.
At 4:02 I got into the secret room to skip the timer. This unlocks Unborn achievement.

Normally you would need to bounce off of two Monstars to reach the puzzle piece on the right, but I dont think this little trick I discovered is cheating.
