Our Director of Product Development, Anthony de Haas, and Director of the Mathematisch-Physikalischer Salon, Dr Peter Plaßmeyer, take us on a tour of the finest and most interesting mechanical objects from the 16th century to the present day in the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden’s latest exhibition: “The key to life. 500 years of mechanical amusement.”
The exhibition takes place until the 25th of September 2022 and has a wide range of historic automatons, instruments, watches, and mechanical theatres on display, many of which are on show to the public for the first time ever. These fascinating objects showcase the development of mechanical precision over the past five centuries and are brought to life by the same mathematical and physical principles as our own timepieces.
