Beginning in fall 2023, The Henry Ford carefully dismantled the Dr. Sullivan and Mrs. Richie Jean Sherrod Jackson Home in Selma, Alabama. Watch how our crews meticulously deconstructed the home, split it in two, stabilized the halves and protected them for the home’s 1,059-mile journey to Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan.
In Greenfield Village, the Jackson Home has been reconstructed and restored to its appearance in 1965, a pivotal year in the Voting Rights Movement. Here, its stories will be preserved and shared with millions of guests in the years to come.
