Before we get to the references I want to provide some context to the semi-common critique about these types of videos which is, why are they so densely academic? I understand this type of analysis will be uninteresting and even annoying or frustrating for some. However, my goal with these videos and the channel in general, is to focus on goth in a way that is both interesting and genuine to me and my interests, and unique in the discursive spaces of gothdom. My hope is that unique quality which is born from my own passions will in some way add to, enrich and diversify the discussion around the lived experiences of goth that I find can become stale and repetitive all to often.
