Imitation may be the best form of flattery, but when it is used for deceptive purposes, it becomes malignant. In the last few weeks, I have been alerted by people to the presence of an Instagam post and video, where I allegedly state my views about Palantir and Nvidia, and then solicit investors to join an investment group. That post is a scam, and after cycling through surprise (that people would invest based on my name), anger (that investors are being scammed) and frustration (at the social media companies that won't lift a finger), I settled on curiosity. In this session, I start with an extended discussion of my open access policy and how you can find almost everything I have created in the last decades online, for free, before assessing the AI scam, as I would any student's project. I give the AI scam an A minus for look and sound, a C minus for content and an F for delivering a message that is consistent with who I am. I close with a general set of suggestions on how you can protect yourself against the wave of AI scams that will be coming for you in the next few years.
