The Hyundai Venue is NOT as Advertised! In this 2026 Hyundai Venue fuel economy #shorts test, I reveal the real MPG and explain why this affordable subcompact SUV actually outperformed Hyundai's official fuel economy ratings. If you're shopping for a budget-friendly SUV, researching car reviews, or planning your next car buying decision, these real-world results may surprise you.
During my 2.5-hour highway test drive, the 2026 Hyundai Venue delivered an impressive 5.9 L/100 km (39 MPG), easily beating Hyundai's advertised combined rating of 7.5 L/100 km (31.4 MPG). I followed that with a separate one-hour city-focused drive and still averaged 6.9 L/100 km (34 MPG). Both tests were completed in ideal weather with light traffic, making this one of the most fuel-efficient budget SUVs I've tested.
Beyond excellent fuel economy, the Hyundai Venue continues to stand out with its outstanding value. It features a 1.6L four-cylinder engine producing 121 horsepower, an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), front-wheel drive, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Hyundai SmartSense safety technology, and seating that's surprisingly comfortable for everyday commuting.
Cargo space is another practical highlight, offering 528 litres (18.7 cu. ft.) behind the rear seats and expanding to 902 litres (31.9 cu. ft.) with the seats folded. Add in its compact size, easy parking, regular fuel requirement, and affordable purchase price, and it's easy to understand why the Venue remains one of North America's best value subcompact SUVs.
Would these real-world fuel economy numbers convince you to buy a Hyundai Venue? Let me know in the comments!
