Does the 2026 Honda Ridgeline TrailSport really deserve the criticism surrounding its fuel economy? This 6,000lbs midsize truck with a 3.5L V6 engine, AWD system, off-road tuned suspension, and all-terrain tires actually delivered better real-world fuel economy than I expected during my week of testing.
⛽️ Real-world fuel economy
10.9L/100km or 21.5 MPG
🔥 Powered by a 280HP V6 engine producing 262 lb-ft of torque, the Ridgeline combines truck capability with smooth everyday drivability. Honda estimates fuel economy at 11.6L/100km (20 MPG) combined, but during my real-world driving test, I averaged 10.9L/100km (21.6 MPG) while cruising in Normal mode with ECON activated.
💰 Pricing for the 2026 Honda Ridgeline TrailSport starts at just over $56K CAD and climbs to approximately $62K CAD depending on trim and options. For the money, you also get standout features like a dual-action tailgate, lockable in-bed trunk, heated seats front and rear, HondaSensing technology, and a comfortable SUV-like cabin.
🚤 Need capability too? The Ridgeline still offers 5,000 lbs of towing capacity, nearly 1,500 lbs of payload, and a cargo bed measuring 960L (34 cu.ft.), plus an additional 207L in-bed trunk.
🤔 So, is the Ridgeline unfairly criticized for fuel economy, or would you still choose another midsize truck?
