Happy Wednesday!
I hope you are well. This piece marks the first time I was able to write an entire fugue in a single day (I think). Why I picked a fugue for this beast was simply because the exposition of a fugue fits so well with the image of a beast growing more and more heads...as one voice finishes, two take its place. The conclusion of this piece represents each head of the hydra being removed and the stumps burnt. Just as the piece began with more heads growing, the piece ends with each voice falling off until the beast is dead.
