We are finally heading home from our trip, but we are heading straight into a massive Michigan ice storm! After a long car ride where the Siberian Huskies—Memphis, Kira, and Eleanor—slept surprisingly well, we crossed back into Michigan to find a frozen landscape. From passing through Omar (Michigan's smallest city) to seeing the first signs of ice on the trees in Oscoda, the drive home was beautiful but definitely a little bit scary.
Once we arrived home, we realized just how much damage the storm actually caused. Our yard is covered in solid ice, and we have several trees down, including our poor apple trees and the top of our Norway maple. The power was out in many of the surrounding towns like Harrisville, and the driveway was a complete sheet of ice. Jamie had to use the Jeep to break up the ice just so we could get the cars in!
The dogs were so happy to be home, even if they were slipping and sliding all over the yard. Because of the falling branches and the thick ice crust, we have to be extra careful with them outside. It’s "eerily beautiful" out there, but we have a lot of cleanup to do once things thaw out. Life is short, make memories with your dogs—even the frozen ones!

🐕 Memphis, Kira, and Eleanor getting the "zooies" on the slippery ice
🚙 Jamie using the Jeep to break up the ice in the driveway
🧤 Checking the fence and the yard for a mysterious visitor (a bunny!)
🌙 Ending the night with a "cold wall start off" for a sleepy Memphis
