In the summer of 1954, two young girls in Hull looked above the rooftops and witnessed what appeared to be a silver aircraft unlike any conventional machine. The object had no wings, no tail and no visible markings. Hovering silently over nearby houses, it displayed a row of portholes through which two human-like figures could be seen. One appeared to be a young man. The other, a woman who seemed to look directly at the witnesses and smile.
