Shmup Junkie | The History of Music in SHOOT EM UPS @ShmupJunkie | Uploaded June 2021 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
The History of Music in Shoot Em Ups, celebrating the epic games, soundtracks and composers that defined the genre. What was your favorite shooting game soundtrack? Your favorite developer? Your favorite console? Konami? Compile? Technosoft? Cave? Did the Mega Drive, Super Nintendo, or the PC Engine have your all time favorite shooter music? Was it Gradius or R-Type you loved most? While it's impossible to cover every amazing STG, every talented musician, and every unique console, this shmup musical history presents some of the greatest of all time in all their glory. From the earliest days of Arcades, home computers like the MSX and Commodore64, to the 8bit era of the NES and Sega Master System, the shooting revolution of the 16bit years on the PC Engine, Mega Drive and SNES, to the late years of the Sega Saturn, Playstation and beyond. A compilation of legends, and the great music that defined them.
