The High Line is a former elevated freight line turned free public park in the Meatpacking District of NYC. The entrance is located at the northwest corner of Washington and Gansevoort and is right nearby another attraction, Little Island. It is open from 7am to 9pm during the week and from 9am to 9pm on weekends. If you decide to visit on the weekend, you will need to make a free timed reservation on your phone for tickets. You can visit anytime during the week without the need for reservations. There is an app for your phone as well that contains a map of notable spots along this very popular 1.45 mile urban trail. The High Line contains numerous gardens, thickets and preserves to walk through that contain over 500 species of plants as well as ample displays of public artwork and great neighboring New York City architecture. Along the way, you will be able to see remnants of the old rail line that have either been restored or refurbished. When you are finished, you will be near Hudson Yards and can check out the Vessel.
