The Super Mario Kart 64 OST (composed by Kenta Nagata) for Nintendo 64 had many great songs, but "Winning Results" was one of the most interesting. It is written in the obscure time signature of 11/8. This short music theory tutorial breaks down how you can learn to count this rhythm easily and understand odd time signatures better, while improving your over all musicianship.

I spent many hours waking up before dawn and playing Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest for hours before school back in the early 90s. The game itself is a bit of an after thought for most people, but it offered some really great music - so here is my Lo-Fi Hip Hop arrangement of Dungeon & Waterfalls.
Thanks to @ChenLiYong for the great suggestion!

This is an instrumental cover of the Super Mario 64 Main Theme (also known as “Bob-omb Battlefield”). It has a 1970s soul/organ jazz vibe to it, and is a nod to the song Sir Duke by one of my musical heroes, Stevie Wonder.

Super Mario 64 is a 1996 platform game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. It was released in Japan and North America in 1996 and PAL regions in 1997. It is the first Super Mario game to feature 3D gameplay, combining traditional Super Mario gameplay, visual style, and characters in a large open world. In the game, Bowser, the primary antagonist of the Super Mario franchise, invades Princess Peachs castle and hides the castles sources of protection, the Power Stars, in many different worlds inside magical paintings. As Mario, the player collects Power Stars to unlock enough of Princess Peachs castle to get to Bowser and rescue Princess Peach.
Director Shigeru Miyamoto conceived a 3D Super Mario game during the production of Star Fox (1993). Development lasted nearly three years: about one year on design and twenty months on production, starting with designing the virtual camera system. The team continued with illustrating the 3D character models—at the time a relatively unattempted task—and refining sprite movements. The sound effects were recorded by Yoji Inagaki and the score was composed by Koji Kondo.
Super Mario 64 was highly anticipated by video game journalists and audiences, boosted by advertising campaigns and showings at the 1996 E3 trade show. It received critical acclaim, with reviewers praising its ambition, visuals, level design, and gameplay, though some criticized its virtual camera system. It is the best-selling Nintendo 64 game, with nearly twelve million copies sold by 2015.
Retrospectively, Super Mario 64 has been considered one of the greatest video games of all time. Numerous developers have cited it as an influence on 3D platform games, with its dynamic camera system and 360-degree analog control establishing a new archetype for the genre, much as Super Mario Bros. did for side-scrolling platform games. It was remade as Super Mario 64 DS for the Nintendo DS in 2004, and has been ported to other Nintendo consoles since. The game has attracted a cult following, spawning many fangames and mods, a large speedrunning presence, and enduring rumors surrounding game features.

![Lennas Theme [Final Fantasy V Instrumental Cover]
The Final Fantasy series has always been my favorite video game series of all time - however, last summer I realized that I had never played Final Fantasy V. I decided I would jump into it and make a cover album once I got a feel for the characters and story. The result was 10 tracks of jammy, instrumental, video game covers. When I began playing with the pieces, I found that many of them left quite a lot of space for musical exploration, so the direction I took was to try to incorporate all the familiar elements of the Final Fantasy sound world we all know and love, but put them in a new sonic landscape.
This album is also important for me because it is the first full length album that I created entirely by myself, and is my first attempt at engineering/producing. Ill be posting a few tracks here on YouTube each week until theres none left, then maybe releasing it on the streaming platforms after that.

![Sinfonia No.12 in A Major BWV #798 [Chip Tune Arrangement]
The twelfth of Bachs 15 Sinfonias (three part inventions) arranged for FamiTracker.
I took a different approach with this project than I did with the Two Part Inventions. Since latter is composed of only two voices, I used the empty channels in the FamiTracker to simulate reverb and delay effects to give the pieces a sense of depth, space, and life. I also kept them in mono, so they were generally a more pure representation of the NES hardware.
Since the Sinfonias introduce a third voice, I decided that I would do most of the sound design inside FamiTracker and export the stems to process inside Ableton Live. The result is less pure to the Chip Tune ethos, but I think service the music in a deeper way. The use of stereo mixing allows for the 3 parts to be spread out across the stereo field, giving the piece a wider sense of perspective - and the use of more conventional reverb and delay effects puts it in more of a real world environment.
As for the pieces themselves, I was less familiar with the Sinfonias than I was the Two Part Inventions. I also didnt do as much consulting of existing recordings for reference. Instead I tried to rely more on my own decisions about tempo, phrasing, and articulations so the interpretations may be less conventional.
Thanks for Listening!
