The Gulf Stream is the most powerful current in the world. As part of a global circulation of ocean currents, it transports almost a hundred times more water than all the rivers in the world combined. The journey begins on the coast of Cuba, in the Gulf of Mexico, where the Gulf Stream originates, and follows it along the eastern coast of America to the Canadian island of Newfoundland. Along the way, travelers encounter fishermen and researchers who live with the Gulf Stream and notice changes in the current. The Gulf Stream is becoming warmer and increasingly flowing further north. This has consequences for the climate in Europe.
