West Central Indiana based band; J Kevin Richter (Vocals, Keyboards), Jay Abbott (Vocals, Guitar), Tony Hamm (Guitar), John Ford (Vocals, Bass) & Garry Dickerson (Drums, Percussion)
The Groundbreakers evolved over a span of two decades with frequent lineup changes, but its core of Jay Abbott, John Ford & Garry Dickerson were the longest standing. When I left my thrash metal band in 1991, I never even gave a thought to joining another band, much less one that was so far removed from metal. A random encounter in a shared rehearsal space led to my joining the band in the spring of 1992. I spent the next two & a half years gigging relentlessly with them but for some reason, we never had a chance to record any of our dozens of originals. The band imploded in the fall of 1994. Zoom to 2000, when on a lark, the band regrouped to lay a few tracks down at Audio Chroma Studios. This was one of three that were recorded, though only one of them would be properly finished. This track was recorded live in one take with guide vocals. Harmonies were quickly added years later.
