Zaynah Shahid, a May 2026 graduate in Food Biosciences and Business Management at the University of Kentucky Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, reflects on the relationships, mentorship and campus community that shaped her college experience.
From the close-knit Food Biosciences program to her leadership in MANRRS and recognition as the Martin-Gatton CAFE recipient of the Lyman T. Johnson Torch Bearer Award, Shahid’s journey shows how students grow through connection, service and opportunity. As she prepares for what comes next, she hopes to give back by helping educate and engage the next generation in agriculture.
