The Stalin Line of fortified areas was the first to be designed coming out of WW1, it consisted of thousands of bunkers, and tunnel systems. on this second part of the series from the Stalin fortified area around Kiev we are exploring the bunkers and tunnels with local historians and an interpreter.
most of these have been excavated over resent years and have not been seen in the West, nor is there a good understanding of these bunkers, their designs and how elaborate some of them were. So I went to Ukraine to crawl through some of the Stalin line bunkers to show you exactly what they were and how they were constructed.
