I’m continuing my mission to review every single Star Wars game released on the Nintendo DS, and this time we’re looking at Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Going into this one, I already had experience with the Wii and Nintendo Switch versions, but the DS version ended up surprising me way more than I expected. This might honestly be one of the best Star Wars games on the system.
From touchscreen combat mechanics to unique Saber Lock battles and “Feel the Force” events, this game does a lot to stand out from other handheld Star Wars titles. It also packs in multiplayer, alternate endings, unlockable costumes, and some surprisingly strong graphics for the hardware. There’s way more here than I expected from a 2008 Nintendo DS release.
If you grew up with the Nintendo DS or you’re a Star Wars fan looking for hidden gems, this is definitely one worth revisiting.
