For months, I was starting Claude conversations from the wrong folder, every time. Whether it was code, planning, or thinking, I'd open Claude inside the most specific folder for the task. And it never quite worked.

So I tried the opposite. I started one folder up, from a parent folder that holds everything related to an area of my work. For me that's our company folder for development work, my Obsidian vault for thinking and planning, a folder per client.

Now I have two or three of these I default to. I know where to start every conversation, and Claude gets the whole landscape from message one.

Small change, big shift in how I work with Claude.
