So I'm back in the UK after my first E3, and it was a wild ride. With the importance of the conference being brought into question, the ESA decided to open its doors to the public in 2017 for the first time in the show's over two-decade-long history. This would be fine if it weren't for the fact that absolutely nothing was done to accommodate them, meaning that the show floor was a mess of aimlessly stampeding bodies waiting for hours at a time to get their hands on a few games a day at MOST.
In what might be the most ambitious episode of Writing on Games yet, I go to E3 and talk about basically no games whatsoever, instead examining the experience as a whole and trying to answer the question - is there any way in which this mess could be considered a worthwhile purchase for a paying public?
