The full list of "prophecies": newtestamentchristians.com/bible-study-resources/351-old-testament-prophecies-fulfilled-in-jesus-christ

🔥 Welcome back, sexy skepticons — it’s time for another Messianic Myth Check.

Today, we’re tackling one of the most famous “prophecies” Christians point to as proof of Jesus…

👉 And it falls apart fast.

📖 Video Description

What up YouTube? It’s your boy, Adam of NOLA.

In today’s episode of Messianic Myth Check, we’re diving into Genesis 3:15 — a verse so iconic that many Christians see it as the first prophecy of Jesus in the Bible.

Some even claim it predicts:

The virgin birth
Jesus defeating Satan
The entire arc of salvation

Sounds impressive…

Until you actually read the text.

🐍 The Original Passage (Context Matters)

Here’s what’s really happening:

👉 God is talking to a serpent
👉 After the events in the Garden of Eden
👉 Explaining the consequences of its actions

“I will put enmity between you and the woman…
He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.”

That’s it.

No mention of:

Jesus
Mary
A virgin birth
Satan

Just… humans and snakes.

🤯 Claim #1: “Virgin Birth Prophecy”

Christians point to verses like:

Epistle to the Galatians 4:4–5
Gospel of Matthew 1:18

…and say this fulfills Genesis 3:15.

But here’s the problem:

👉 Nothing in Genesis 3:15 describes a virgin birth
👉 “Offspring of a woman” = literally every human ever
👉 The context is about conflict, not conception

To make this connection, you have to:

💥 Ignore the surrounding verses
💥 Insert meanings that aren’t there
💥 Pretend the text says something it doesn’t

😈 Claim #2: “Jesus Defeats Satan”

Next, we’re told this verse predicts Jesus defeating the devil, using:

Epistle to the Hebrews 2:14
First Epistle of John 3:8

But again…

👉 Genesis never mentions Satan
👉 It explicitly describes the serpent as an animal
👉 Crawling on its belly and eating dust

So unless Satan is a literal snake eating dirt…

This interpretation collapses immediately.

⚖️ The Prophecy Scorecard

We run both claims through the same objective test:

✔️ Is it a prediction? → Yes
✔️ Written beforehand? → Yes
✔️ Future tense? → Yes

But then…

❌ Comes directly from God → Not a prophecy
❌ Cherry-picking context → Fail
❌ Ignoring actual meaning of words → Fail
❌ Replacing “serpent” with “Satan” → Fail
❌ Claimed fulfillment doesn’t match → Fail

🎯 Bottom Line

Genesis 3:15 does describe something real:

👉 Humans and snakes don’t get along

Cool.

But that’s not what’s being claimed.

The claim is:

👉 This predicts Jesus, the virgin birth, and the defeat of Satan

And there is simply:

💥 No textual basis for that whatsoever

🧠 Why This Matters

If this is the first “prophecy” on the list…

👉 And it already fails this badly…

Then what does that say about the remaining 350+ claims?
