We’ve officially finished the Book of Joshua in God-Free Bible Study… and wow, this one is a doozy.
In this episode, Adam of NOLA breaks down 17 of the most bizarre, contradictory, and downright embarrassing moments from the Book of Joshua. From impossible marching instructions and failed divine promises to genocidal commands and a sun that supposedly stopped in the sky (without a single other civilization noticing), this book raises some serious questions about the biblical narrative.

This video is a synopsis episode — highlighting some of the biggest “facepalm moments” from Joshua and why they’re difficult to reconcile with the idea of an all-knowing, perfectly moral deity.

• The bizarre logistics of following the Ark of the Covenant from half a mile away in unfamiliar territory
• Yahweh repeatedly promising to drive out enemies… and then not actually doing it
• The claim that Yahweh is the “Lord of the Earth” despite most of the world having never heard of him
• The strange mass recircumcision event before the conquest begins
• The story where Joshua believes a random stranger who claims to be “commander of the Lord’s army”
• The famous Jericho march where apparently nobody on the walls thought to shoot arrows

If the Bible is supposed to be the perfect, divinely inspired word of God, then stories like these deserve careful scrutiny.
Because when you actually read the text closely… the problems start piling up fast.
