A wonderful glimpse of everyday life on Belfast’s Falls Road, believed to have been photographed during the 1950s near the corner of Plevna Street.
The pavement is alive with activity: neighbours stopping for a yarn, shoppers examining the goods outside the corner shop, and one determined cyclist pedalling past before somebody asks him to carry their messages home!
The old family shops, advertisements, trolleybus wires and rows of smoking chimneys take us back to an era when the Falls Road was a bustling community where nearly everybody knew everybody—and probably knew their business as well! 😂
The exact year remains uncertain, but the clothing, shop displays and trolleybus wiring strongly suggest the 1950s.
