I'm back on YouTube Investigator for the first time since March. This time I'm taking a look at Shane Dawson's recent downfall with his old disturbing videos resurfacing. It is it blow out of proportion the way the media has been covering this? or is it completely fair and just?
Just for reference, this video was recorded almost a full week before it was uploaded, the issue/controversy was still very much fresh when this was recorded. I was attempting to upload this actually a lot sooner and not very long after the recording. However, I wanted to put as much time and effort into the editing as possible, so it thus has been released during the twilight of this controversy involving Shane Dawson. I believe the "drama" died due to the videos in question being mistakes from his past and not necessarily recent things the YouTuber said/did that were inherantly wrong. However that does not excuse what it said by shane in the various videos that have recently surfaced. I personally don't believe his past misconduct in the early 2010's has "ruined" his career, I'd be surprised if he never recovers from people finding this and I'd also be surprised if he's not somewhat relieved that these videos have finally come to public attention, as he's probably worried about them for ages, so yeah, I guess he will be thinking he can now move on with his life now that all of this is out of the woodwork and people have seen it and eventually become bored with it, because of course they were from when he was younger as I said and they are also old videos. That doesn't at all excuse the actions and the things said in these videos.
