This is a project for my Natural Disasters class in which I discuss the infamous volcanic eruption of Mount St. Helens, a stratovolcano located in the state of Washingtown. Mount St. Helens experienced a catastrophic eruption on May 18, 1980, in which the side of the volcano exploded and unleashed a gigantic pyroclastic flow. The area surrounding Mount St. Helens was devastated - Spirit Lake experienced a megatsunami, mudflows buried much of the landscape, and entire forests were flattened with many trees being littered in nearby lakes. On top of being the most destructive volcanic eruption in United States history, there are concerns Mount St. Helens will erupt again in the future, especially given the fact that a new lava dome is forming in the crater of the volcano. Despite all, nature has restored many parts of the area thirty-seven years after the eruption, even after the devastation that ensued.

Enjoy! If you have any questions about Mount St. Helens, feel free to ask! Thanks for watching!
