Everyone heard about the ENGAGE RIDLEY MOTHER FUCKER password. Generally it is a password that makes the game crash, but it could have a different effect depending on the emulator you use. In some emulators it gives black screen, in others a glitchy version of the Brinstar area as well as in one of these it gives a glitchy version of Ridley's lair.
Another password with the same effect is: GUILTY UNLESS PROVED MEDUSA
