Ian Miller of Washington Sea Grant investigates the edge of the Elwha River plume in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The removal of two dams on the Elwha River in Washington State occurred between 2011 and 2014, and led to ecological changes in the nearshore zone near the river mouth. Those ecological changes were primarily driven by elevated turbidity in the Elwha River, which led to elevated turbidity in the Strait of Juan de Fuca during dam removal.
