In this video I share how to crochet the classic ripple stitch with a ridge. This is a simple 1 row repeat only using double crochets which makes it ideal for beginners or if you are looking for a last minute blanket that you can whip up easily.

🧶 Pattern
Foundation Row
Chain a multiple of 12 + 3
Row 1
Dc in 4th ch from hook (beginning ch counts as first dc). — makes 2 dc in same ch.
Dc in next 3 ch.
Repeat the following ripple sequence across the row:
Dip Dc2tog twice — turns 4 sts into 2
Side Dc in next 3 ch.
Peak Work 2 dc in each of next 2 ch — turns 2 sts into 4
Side Dc in next 3 ch.
Dip Dc2tog twice — turns 4 sts into 2
Continue repeating (Dip, Side, Peak, Side, Dip) until 4 chains remain.
To finish row:
Dc in next 3 ch.
Work 2 dc in last ch.
Row 2
From this row on, work in blo.
Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn.
Dc in first st — makes 2 dc in same st.
Dc in next 3 sts.
Repeat the following ripple sequence across the row:
Dip Dc2tog twice — turns 4 sts into 2
Side Dc in next 3 sts.
Peak Work 2 dc in each of next 2 sts — turns 2 sts into 4
Side Dc in next 3 sts.
Dip Dc2tog twice — turns 4 sts into 2
Continue repeating (Dip, Side, Peak, Side, Dip) until 4 sts remain.
To finish row:
Dc in next 3 sts.
Work 2 dc in last st.
Repeat Row 2 until completion. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Straighten the Edges (Optional Finishing Step)
Work across the top and bottom edges using the following sequence for each 12-stitch ripple unit:
2 sc
3 hdc
2 dc (over the dip area)
3 hdc
2 sc
Repeat this edging sequence across both the top and bottom to create a smooth, squared-off finish.
