In Zagora, the palm groves awaken at dawn to a flurry of activity. Every plant demands care, especially the delicate henna shrub. At Tinzouline, the Al Wafa women’s cooperative transforms its leaves into pure, natural henna — a plant revered in Islam as one of the trees of paradise.
Further south, in Tamgrout, another ancient craft has flourished for centuries: pottery. For over 400 years, two families have shared the same kilns, perfecting a distinct green enamel that has become their signature. Its secret blend — silica, manganese, copper oxide, and barley flour — produces the deep, shimmering green that symbolizes Islam itself.
The Drâa Valley is more than a landscape: it is a living heritage of faith, color, and craftsmanship that continues to shape Moroccan identity.
