The Double is a novella (a short novel) by the Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky. Set in Imperian Russia, it tells the story of a civil servant who meets his double.

Psychological or, perhaps supernatural, The Double is a tragicomedy about the duality of the self. A tale about how mental illness can affect a person's identity.
