The Discovery of a New ALS Rick Gene: what it tells us about the cause of ALS
Our Guest Speaker, Johnathan Cooper-Knock, Ph.D. from The University of Sheffield will be presenting on a new risk gene for ALS called KANK1. The discovery of this gene tells us more about the cause of ALS.

Dr. Cooper-Knocks research is focused around genetic causes of motor neuron disease (MND, also called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS). In particular his focus is on discovery of novel genetic mutations which facilitate the design of cell and animal models for identification of new potential therapeutic targets.
