I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the difference between autistic social struggles… and behavior that crosses into manipulation, entitlement, or emotional harm.

Because those things are not the same.

As autism awareness grows online, I’m noticing more people using the autism label to explain patterns that may actually be repeated boundary violations, lack of accountability, or coercive behavior.

In this video, I want to talk about that distinction with nuance and compassion.

Because autistic people can absolutely:
• misunderstand social cues
• overtalk
• struggle with emotional regulation
• become defensive
• miss implied expectations
• accidentally hurt people

But healthy autistic people still care about the impact they have on others.

We’re talking about:
• impact vs intent
• accountability
• repeated boundary violations
• weaponized vulnerability
• “therapy language” used manipulatively
• why compassionate people sometimes stay in unhealthy dynamics too long

Autism may explain why something happens.
It does not mean someone else has to tolerate being harmed by it.

This video is not about shaming autistic people. It’s about protecting both autistic people and the deeply empathetic people who often reinterpret red flags through a compassionate lens.

A diagnosis should increase self-awareness — not remove accountability.
