Darkrai has terrorized competitive singles Ubers since it got introduced in Generation 4. The Ubers tier is a tier where all the broken legendaries like Kyogre and Miraidon roam around freely and its a tier above the OverUsed tier, which is the standard tier for competitive singles. All Pokémon that are considered too strong for OU are banned to the Ubers tier. Darkrai was ranked a S tier Pokémon in Gen 4 Ubers and A tier in gen 5 & 6 Ubers, but in gen 7 Ubers everything changed. Darkrai, who was once a dangerous threat that every team needed to prepare for, suddenly fell from a S/A tier Pokémon to a C- tier Pokémon. The once meta defining Darkrai that was so strong in gen 4 that people opted to niche counters like Primeape and even Ariados, yes Ariados, but now it has fallen in to no man’s land. So what caused the death of Darkrai in competitive Pokémon?
