First seen in advertising in 1972 the Calson MiniMod by Copal was priced from about 8 to 12 dollars (equivalent to about $53 to $81 dollars in 2022). But by 1973 you could find the clock sale priced at $5.99 ($40.63 in 2022). It must not have been super popular. That's ok. It's sought after these days!
The Caslon MiniMod is just a flip clock - no alarm. The clock's advertised dimensions are 5 1/4 inches wide, 3 3/4 inches tall and 3 1/4 inches deep. This is close enough to the actual measures, but the clock's shape does not lend itself to being easily measured.
It's an unusually small flip clock with unusual styling, the rectangular clock face cradled by a semi-oval shaped case resting on a base that looks like a trophy stand. It sits high enough up on this stand that you could wrap the cord around it (I saw that on eBay once ... please don't do that - over the long term these cords will melt into the plastic - believe it or not).
The front of the clock face is real glass and the font face of the white on black flip tiles is compressed. It's a quirky font, not really representative of typical fonts of the 1970s, and not really easy to read. But this just makes it that much more desirable today.
The clock only came in "frosty white" and "hot orange" and we've got both here in the Flip Clock Fans collection.
