This is part 1 of a video series which will be dedicated to understanding how and why language is a necessary precursor to consciousness. All of these ideas can be found in The Origins of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind by Julian Jaynes. Chapter 2 contains most of the lessons in this video and I recommend reading the book in order to fully understand this theory. Jaynes was a genius and his ideas have gone underappreciated by mainstream academics.
