Hey everyone, in this video we look at one of the pinnacles of the bicameral mind, that of the civilization of Ancient Egypt. Applying Jaynes' theory, we reinterpret the meanings of ancient concepts, particularly the Ka, and speculate that the Ka really referred to an internal hallucinatory voice. It was this concept which then gave rise to our modern belief in the soul.
This video is based on The Origins of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind, by Julian Jaynes.
