Much of the world’s infrastructure is made of concrete, whose production accounts for 8% of global CO2 emissions. With a lifespan of 50-100 years, it deteriorates and has to be replaced.
Increasing its structural durability, to 200 years or more, has a significant impact on the environment by reducing the 4 billion tons of CO2 produced annually by its manufacture.
#MartinHalliwell, our guest today, has over 10 patents designed to lower CO2 emissions in the making of structures, in what he calls Earth honoring systems, including more durable concrete and geothermal installations integrated with windmills.
