2 years ago, Duplex Domino hosted a big community collab known as Domino Mania 2020, which I built the intro machine for. About a year later, she asked me if I'd like to build another machine for Domino Mania 2022, the sequel to the successful first collab. I said absolutely, and so, over the next couple months, I made a mini machine to start the event with, just like the previous year. The team for this year's event consisted of me, Duplex, B16 Dominoes, GranTheMan, Dominobauer, and Water Cloud Domino. We got a few clips done at the start of the year, and we were planning on finishing around spring. But sadly, over the next few months, our inspiration to work on the collab pretty much died, and we almost forgot we were even doing it lol. We made absolutely no progress during the second half of the year, and some of the builders pretty much stopped building altogether in that time. With only a few clips, and half the team retired from building, it was becoming increasingly clear that the collab would never be finished, at least not without recruiting a completely new team. And so, Domino Mania 2022 was unfortunately canceled.
After we decided to call it quits, I asked Duplex if I could upload the mini machine as its own video, since it would be such a shame to let that fun little machine be lost forever. Also, I had uploaded almost no machine related stuff in 2022, so I wanted to post an actual machine thing before the year was over. She gave me permission to upload it, and as a result, the only real traditional, intricate tabletop style machine I built in 2022 was released to the public, over half a year after it was finished. So despite the sad backstory, I hope you still enjoy the machine! It feels good to finally post a machine, even if it's tiny lol. I think overall it turned out pretty solid, and it's good to finally see an actual machine in which I use my two beloved new adhesives, hot glue and industrial double sided tape. These two things definitely make my machine style much more clean and professional than it was before, and I'm hoping I build more machine stuff in 2023 so I can expand the professionalism of my style even more.
