Kits World | The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro | Book Review @kitsworld | Uploaded April 2021 | Updated October 2024, 8 minutes ago.
The Buried Giant, by Nobel Prize winner Sir Kazuo Ishiguro, is an unusual and ethereal fantasy set in England during the Dark Ages, in a period of peace between the indigenous Britons, and the Saxon invaders who occupied the country at the time. Two elderly lovers trek through an imagined English landscape in search of their son, in a world where magic has rendered the populace forgetful, to put it mildly!
I surprised myself by buying this book, and even more so by finishing it. Thanks to my boyfriend for recommending it to me, and for picking up the pieces when I was left strangely and surprisingly devastated at the end!
Happy Anniversary, my Darling. π
