Historically there are two forms of Buddhism. The original teachings of the Buddha present in Pali literature, and later developments in Buddhism after emperor Ashoka. Sri Acharyaji explains how early Buddhist teachings do not deny the existence of the Soul, and that it's necessary to believe in a permanent Self for Buddhism to make sense. In actuality, the Buddha's original teachings are in line with the worldview of Sanatana Dharma.
