A Case for Books | The Bookwanderers Club: Jasbinder Bilan @ACaseforBooks | Uploaded May 2020 | Updated October 2024, 5 hours ago.
Episode 25 of The Bookwanderers Club, a live book club on every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 2pm while schools are closed due to COVID-19. (Note: The Bookwanderers Club is having a half-term holiday too next week and will be back soon!)
Jasbinder Bilan, author of Asha and the Spirit Bird, joins Anna to talk about winning the Costa Prize, writing about places you've never been, and planning her books.
Jasbinder's writing prompt is to create your own spirit animal. Think about what it would be; the spirit of somebody that means something special to you, or someone linked to you but you don't know who they are. Think about an animal that you absolutely love, that you feel a bond with and write down what they look like physically, what characteristics they have that you admire, and finally write about the first time that you meet them. You can see Jasbinder talk more about his prompt in more detail at 28:23.
