The Blood of Dawnwalker - Broad Swing Manual EARLY - 300% Weapon Damage Epic Ability
Broad Swing is an Epic ability that hits for 300% weapon damage, and it drops off a bandit in the opening area of the prologue rather than anywhere late.
Go to the bandit camp shown at the start and clear it. The drops are random, but one thing on this body is not: the Broad Swing Manual, marked Epic. The rest of that corpse in this run was 51 Denarius, a Golden Brooch, a Balm of Fortitude and the Hunter's Trousers.
A manual is not the ability. The game explains it the moment you pick one up: read a manual to make a new Perk or Ability available to learn, and each manual gives you more development options. You read manuals from the inventory, then you learn them at a road shrine.
Read the ability card before you spend anything. Broad Swing sits in the Swordmastery tree, usable anytime, a weapon area attack on a 40 second cooldown, and it costs 3 activation charges. The ranks run 300% weapon damage, then 375%, then 450% with a stacking 10% for each enemy you hit, then 525%.
There is a catch worth knowing before you walk to the shrine. The game throws a High Activation Charge Cost warning: the ability costs more activation charges than your current maximum, so you can learn it and still be unable to use it until your maximum comes up. Learning advanced perks also progresses time, which is not free in this game.
Two more pieces come out of the same camp. The Ring of Astral Defence is a Superior Ring at Level 4 giving +2% magical damage reduction, and the Hunter's Trousers are Master Light Trousers at Level 2 with 46 armour, +2% weapon critical hit chance and +7% passive activation charge restoration.
