Many faithful Christians throughout history have held different views about how long creation took. Even respected theologians like Norman Geisler acknowledged that the biblical text leaves some questions open.
The bigger question isn’t simply how long creation took, but what Genesis is actually claiming.
Does Genesis teach that:
God intentionally created the world?
Humans were uniquely created in God’s image?
Adam and Eve were historical figures connected to the fall?
Those issues directly shape how we understand sin, redemption, and the gospel.
So while Christians may disagree about the timeline of creation, the focus should remain on the core truths Genesis is communicating about God, humanity, and the story of salvation.
