Genkisan | The best way to record gameplay on the Steam Deck. @Genkisan | Uploaded July 2022 | Updated October 2024, 11 hours ago.
Important update!
I noticed that there are some people who aren’t able to get it to work in Game or Desktop mode. And I found a similarity between them. My Display Configuration settings shows the Steam Deck’s display as “Built-in screen” and on their Steam Decks, the Display Configuration shows the display as “Laptop screen”.
I’m beginning to wonder if this is a hardware issue with the Steam Deck from the device changes Valve made to the Q3+ units? Leave a comment on which Q# Steam Deck you have if this video doesn’t work for you so I can compare and I will try to look into it.

• To screen capture without using an external display you need to switch the Steam Deck to Desktop Mode and change the Display Configuration so that the ALGP2 is recognized as a secondary display and duplicating the Steam Deck “Built-in” display.
• To screen capture in SteamOS mode you will need to connect the ALGP2 to an external portable, monitor or tv display.
