Five awesome things with the Wild Cat Mark III steadycam.
1. You can fold the legs to make it small and compact for traveling.
2. Since the legs create a triangle, you can place it on the ground without fearing that it will tip over.
3. You can adjust the handle to your prefered position.
4 You get an arm support with the product, which will make the whole setup feel easier.
5. You get a nice and practical bag with it.
So should you get yourself the Wild Cat mark III? Well, the answer is quite simple: If you want a good and affordable steadycam, this is it. Especially the aluminum version which can handle cameras up to 3kilos and which costs only 280 dollars. Just remember again that steadycams are harder to operate then gimbals, so you would need some practice. I believe that this steadycam is the perfect tool to practice and become the master of steadycam. Good luck!

People asked for it; Why not combine the Aputure DEC and the Metabones Speedbooster? It would be the perfect combination to have both wireless follow focus, wireless camera control and focal reduction in one adapter. Aputure listened to us and accepted the challenge, and now one year later, the product is ready. And it’s even less expensive then the Metabones Speedbooster!

The Aputure DEC LensRegain is both a focal reducer (speedbooster), adapter, wireless follow focus, wireless aperture control and start/stop recording. The LensRegain adapter makes your full frame lenses and APS-C lenses work on micro four thirds cameras like the GH4 and the BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera. The special glass inside the LensRegain adapter concentrates the light from full frame and APS-C lenses with a focal reduction of 0.75x, which makes the lenses look more like they should do and in addition you get one more stop of aperture. So my Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 turns into a f1.2 lens with the LensRegain adapter, and that’s perfect for shooting in low light.
Wether you shoot with a tripod or handheld with a shoulderrig, you can easily mount the remote controller with the included claw clip. On both the remote controller and the adapter there is a led panel that shows the exposure and focal length. In addition of wireless follow focus you also have the option to set digital focus marks. It will make the perfect focus change for you.
A great way to use the DEC Lens Regain is when shooting on a steadycam since you shouldn’t touch the camera while filming with it. Since the DEC is wireless, it’s solves the problem. In addition it’s perfect when operating a jib. A tip when using the wireless follow focus feature is to use a wireless HDMI transmitter like the Aputure ArrayTrans, to send the video signal to a monitor wirelessly. Then a person can operate the focus while watching the monitor. Overall the DEC Lens Regain is a genius product, and if they manage to get the update for controlling the aperture from the camera as well, I don’t see the need of buying a Metabones Speedbooster. And guess what, the Aputure DEC LensRegain costs less then the Metabones Speedbooster, only 598$.

Being able to control your camera and lens wirelessly can make a huge difference to your shots and productivity when filming. The affordable Aputure DEC Wireless Remote Follow Focus Lens Adapter lets you control the focus, change aperture and start and stop recording in a easy way.
Imagine you have been shooting with your canon DSLR for a long time and now you want to switch over to a camera like the Panasonic GH4. Then the Aputure DEC adapter will make your Canon EF lenses work on micro four third cameras like the GH4 and the Black Magic Pocket Camera. But that is just one cool thing with this adapter. Connected with the remote controller, it can do a lot more.
The best way to operate a shoulder rig or a tripod would be to keep both your hands on the rig at all times. But how can you then operate the camera and the lens? Attach the DEC adapter to your camera, attach your lens, and mount the camera on your rig or tripod. Then grab the remote controller and the clamp and attach it to your rig. Turn on the adapter and the remote controller and you are ready to controll the camera wirelessly.
One of the features is the wireless focus. Pull the focus button on the remote controller to either side to change focus. The faster you pull, the faster you focus.
When filming documentaries, being able to change aperture quickly during recording is important. The DEC makes it possible. Just roll the wheel on the back of the remote, and the aperture will change. The OLED screen on the remote cotroller shows you the current aperture, and the focal length is shown on the left side of the screen. The same screen you find on the remote controller, is on the side of the adapter.
What about the record button? No problem. Grab the cable from the box and attach it to the adapter, and then the remote input of the camera. Now you can start and stop the recording, by pressing the record button on the remote controller.
Another great feature, is the opportunity to set focus marks. Imagine you want to pull focus from one point to another and make the shot accurate every single time. That’s not a problem with the DEC. First you choose one of the focus points, and then press the a-button on the side of the remote. Then change focus over to the other point and press the b-button. Now those marks are saved, as you can tell by looking at the display. So, when you now pull the focus button, it will make the perfect focus change every single time. The remote shakes when the marking point is reached, and automatically stops the focus change.
The remote and the adapter both have an internal battery. The remote has a battery life of 3-4 days non-stop and the adapter has a battery life of 4 hours. You charge them with usb cables, and you can use them while charging.
The price of $380 is really cheap compared too similar equipment. I read that they will release one version with speedbooster, so it doesn’t crop the image when using EF-lenses on the micro four third cameras like the GH4. That has to be the perfect combination!

Nowadays, you can shoot some incredible nice videos with even your cellphone! I was lucky to borrow the new Nokia Lumia 920 to test the camera and see how well it performed when shooting video. Normally a camera would need a lot of light to make nice pictures and videos. In this video we didnt use any strong lights (see behind the scenes for more info!), but since the camera in the Nokia Lumia 920 has a nice Carl Zeiss lens with aperture at f2 and the new pureView technology, it was exciting to test it out. I shot everything with both a steadycam and handheld, since the camera got a image stabilization inside the lens. The sound was recorded live by several microphones (not the cellphone) and added in post.
