For soldering on a budget or just for a REALLY good starter iron, these OLED based T12 T15 soldering stations are my recommendation.

♦♦TIPS For Good solderizing skills:♦♦

Use quality solder (multicore, it costs more but is better) [Multicore is now sold as loctite brand]

Good flux, *avoid ebay*, for budget flux use MECHANIC brand.
For very good use AMTECH GENUINE flux

Don't bother using a sponge to clean the tip, use brass wool (comes with most iron stands)

Clean after you solder, use Flux Remover (FluxOff is good) OR 99% isopropyl
