There are only a few weeks left before I myself graduate high school, which is pretty unbelievable. It's been a fantastic four years and I've had an amazing experience. But before I leave, I made this - an inspirational short film that reflects my high school experience. It will be shown to the eighth graders on READY Day, an event where the high school welcomes the next Freshman class. For the last two years, I've wanted to create a short film that has a senior preparing to move on from my high school, Downingtown West, while they also influence an eighth grader who prepares to join the school. At long last, that project is completed.
Last April, I made an informational video for the previous READY Day, which strayed from my original vision of a senior influencing an eighth grader. This year, I had the opportunity to complete my vision with this video. I'm very pleased with how this turned out, and hopefully it's good enough that it'll be shown to the upcoming Freshman classes for years to come.
Alex Fanelli stars as the senior, while Andrew Gkonos and Abby Pincus play the eighth graders. Gabe Sagherian, Austin Brinser, Chris Lombardo, Ryan Grier and Sean Larkin all cameo at the end of the film as Alex's friends. Many thanks to the five of them for sticking around to shoot the cameo. Thank you to Alex, who truly embodied the project with his character, and Andrew and Abby, who don't normally participate in my projects but were kind enough to collaborate on this one. Special thanks to those who made this project possible - my guidance counselor, Nicole Lipkin, for giving me the opportunity, and Brian Hassel, who mentored our graduation project and also created the wooden Whippet ornaments. Believe it or not, those played a big part! And thank you to the Downingtown community for creating such a wonderful high school.
