Now here’s a piano with some stories to tell!
This wonderful old Steinway Vertegrand was built in 1905 and has been part of Abbey Road Studios since the 1950s. It became affectionately known as the “Mrs. Mills Piano”, named after the hugely popular pianist Mrs. Mills.
But here’s where it gets really special — The Beatles played this very piano at Abbey Road! Its bright, slightly honky-tonk sound can be heard on classics including “Penny Lane,” “Lady Madonna” and “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.”
And yes — Paul McCartney has played this very instrument, including performances of “Lady Madonna.”
Just imagine the hands that have touched these keys and the music that has filled Abbey Road from this remarkable old Steinway.
More than 120 years old and still making music — now that’s what you call a piano with history! 🎶🎹
