It was a sunny day in Springfield, Massachusetts when Jamie strolled in to a fantastic bakery and deli by the name of Gus and Paul's to take on a new food challenge. Gus and Paul's Corned Beef Challenge had been defeating challengers since it was introduce almost 5 years prior. Of the hundreds that have tried, not one person was able to take this monstrosity down.
What is Gus and Paul's Corned Beef Challenge?
For those unfamiliar with the "Gus & Paul's Corned Beef Challenge,"contestants have to eat a 10-pound meal consisting of a corned beef sandwich with 2.5 pounds of corned beef, 1 pounds of Swiss cheese, 2 sliced tomatoes, 1/2 head of lettuce, a 1.5 pound water roll, 1/2 pound of mustard, and 1 pound of sliced pickles (dubbed "the worlds biggest corned beef sandwich). It also comes with 1 pound of coleslaw and 1.25 pounds of french fries as fixings.
And before anyone can say "that would feed me for a week," contestants have only one hour to devour with no help from friends, family, bystanders or pets.
That's the Gus and Paul's Corned Beef Challenge
If anyone can eat the meal in the appointed time, they eat for free. Otherwise they pay $59.99.
In the five years that the Gus and Paul's Corned Beef Challenge has been around, no one has gotten the meal for free.
Jamie "The Bear" McDonald started out strong, displaying a ravenous spirit at the outset, but he was soon in trouble. Could he finish? Or would Gus and Paul's Corned Beef Challenge lay claim to another challenger?
